I think every holiday celebration needs a festive signature drink.  I also think that the signature drink should have a non-alcoholic option.

That way everyone at your celebration can enjoy a fancy, festive drink.  This year I decided to put a twist on the traditional Moscow mule and create a festive Christmas drink that everyone, young and old, can enjoy.

Traditionally, a Moscow mule is vodka, lime juice and ginger beer.  To take it up a notch and dress it up for the holidays, I added some cranberry juice, which gives the drink great color and adds a nice tangy, berry flavor.

I don’t like my drinks to be overly sweet, so I use 100% cranberry juice, which is fairly tangy and a little goes a long way.  If you like your drinks to be sweeter, you could either use cranberry juice cocktail or you could add a bit of honey to sweeten things up.

As far as a non-alcoholic version, just omit the vodka and you still have a drink that’s festive and tastes amazing.

One final variation for this cocktail would be to substitute whiskey for the vodka.  If you like whiskey, you will most certainly love the bite that it gives to the drink.
