Oatmeal Smoothie

We’ve been making a lot of smoothies in my house since I got my new Ninja Blender. Some with just a combination of fruit and a little juice or water, some with fruit and a handful of spinach and sometime a little yogurt as well. The possibilities really are endless.

But yesterday my daughter, Kelly, had an idea that I thought was genius! She put a packet of instant oatmeal in her smoothie…..that’s right, a packet of instant oatmeal. Who would have ever thought that would be a good idea??

Well I’ll tell you, it was a fabulous idea. Along with the oatmeal packet, she also added vanilla Greek yogurt, a few frozen strawberries and some water. She leaves the house at 6:30 for work and she said it kept her full all the way to lunch.

Plus, it was really delicious. I made one for myself today and it was thick and rich with just the right amount of sweetness from the oatmeal and the yogurt. Since it’s all blended up, you don’t even really know the oatmeal is in there, it adds just a little bit of extra texture (in a good way).

In the recipe below I listed the ingredients that we used, but you could use any frozen fruit that you like and any flavor of yogurt that you like. We used blueberry oatmeal (from Trader Joe’s), but whatever flavor you like would work perfectly. The bottom line is that this is a very flexible recipe!

Ingredients Needed to Make an Oatmeal Smoothie

  • Instant Oatmeal (your favorite flavor)
  • Non-fat vanilla Greek yogurt
  • Frozen strawberries
  • Water

How to Make an Oatmeal Smoothie

  • Combine all ingredients in a blender.
  • Blend until smooth.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet instant oatmeal (your favorite flavor)
  • 1/3 cup non-fat vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/3 cup water

Instructions

    1. Combine all ingredients in a blender.
    2. Blend until smooth.
    3. Pour into a glass.
