Grilled Bacon Tomato and Avocado (BTA) Sandwich

I know I was just talking about healthy eating to you guys just two days ago.  And I know that posting a recipe for a grilled sandwich with bacon and butter makes it appear that I’ve already given up on healthy eating, but hear me out.

First of all, I made this sandwich a while ago and it’s just too delicious NOT to share with you guys.  Second of all, I don’t suggest eating this sandwich everyday for lunch.  Having said that, this sandwich is not that bad for you if you’re balancing it out with the rest of what you eat throughout the day.  Bacon is not the bad guy.  It’s giving you some protein as well as some fat, both of which your body needs.  Butter is also OK to include in your diet, especially if it comes from grass fed cows.

So the bottom line is, PLEASE, try this sandwich, it’s a great twist on a classic BLT and I promise you’ll love it!

 

Grilled Bacon Tomato and Avocado Sandwich

  • 1-2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 3 slices cooked bacon
  • 2-3 slices tomato
  • 1/4 avocado, sliced
  • 2 slices crusty whole grain bread
  • Softened butter

Butter the outside of each slice of bread.

Layer the cheese, bacon, tomato and avocado on one of the slices and top with the other one.

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium low heat.

Grill sandwich on each side, until bread is toasted and golden brown and cheese is melted.
