Stitch Fix Review #3

I just recently received my third Stitch Fix and I’m still loving the service, it’s like getting a present every month.  It’s so fun to open that package and then try on all of the pieces.

If you’re not familiar with  Stitch Fix, here’s how it works, it’s a personal styling service and it’s a great way to add new clothes to your wardrobe. When you sign up for your first fix, you’ll fill out a detailed personal profile so that your stylist has a good idea of your preferences, including your size, style and budget.   For a $20.00 styling fee, your stylist will hand-pick five clothing and/or accessory items that meet your criteria. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll get your first fix within a few weeks.  You can schedule a Stitch Fix to arrive automatically once a month or more or less frequently, whatever’s convenient for you.

Once your package arrives, you have three days to try everything on and see how it works with your existing wardrobe.  If there’s anything you don’t like, just put it in the postage paid envelope that’s included and send it back.  The $20.00 styling fee will be applied to anything that you do purchase and if you purchase all five items, you receive a 25% discount.  If you refer other people to sign upyou’ll receive a $25.00 credit for each person that can be used on future purchases.

For this fix, I had asked my stylist to send me casual pieces that I could take on my vacation at our cabin.  We spend a lot of time hanging out on the beach or the deck, as well as doing some shopping and going out to eat, so casual clothes are the way to go.  My stylist did a great job of giving me what I asked for.  Now I’ll show you what worked and what didn’t.

Renee C – Jaimie Eyelet Striped Cardigan (48.00) – This is a very lightweight cotton cardigan that’s a perfect weight for summer.  The color is very versatile and I love the way that it’s longer in the back than the front.  The fit was also really good for me, not too tight and not too fitted.  We’ve had some cooler weather up at the cabin and this was the perfect piece to throw over a sleeveless top and still look stylish.  Verdict: Kept

Market & Spruce – Nolen Printed Detail Henley Tank (54.00) – I loved this top when I took it out of the box.  I love knit fabrics and that’s what the body of this shirt is made out of.  I also loved the detail at the top of the shirt, no jewelry required.  All you need to do is throw this on with pants or shorts and you’re ready to go, perfect for vacation.  But….when I tried it on, I found that the fit was not right for me.  It looked great from the front, but the gathering in the back kept it from laying well which made it look boxy.  Verdict:  Sent back

Skies are Blue – Linet Pleated Detail Knit Tank (48.00) – As soon as I saw this top, I thought it was going to be a keeper.  The color is gorgeous, it’s knit and it has some great detail at the top.  It would go with so many things already in my closet.  But again, there’s a but…..it was just too short and the bottom hit me at the widest part of my hips, so not very flattering.  If it was just a little longer I for sure would have kept it.  Vedict:  Sent back

Dear John – Finnegan Roll Cuff Chino Short (58.00) – I absolutely love these shorts!  They’re just the right length, not too short and not too long and the fit is perfect.  I love the light gray color and they’re so soft and comfortable.  The style is perfect for an easy casual look and I think with the right accessories they could be dressed up for a night out.  They pair up perfectly with this top that I got in last month’s fix and they’ll go great with a lot of other pieces in my wardrobe.  Verdict:  Kept

Pixley – Tammi Printed Dress (68.00) – I admit, I was skeptical about this dress when I first saw it.  I loved the color and the sailboat pattern, but I wasn’t sure how it was going to fit.  Once I put it on, though, I fell in love.  It fit perfectly and felt really comfortable.  It’s a perfect summer dress and is great to wear for a day of shopping or for dinner out.  If it’s a little chilly, it will look great with a jean jacket.  Verdict:  Kept

So while I didn’t keep everything, my stylist Kim did a great job with the pieces she sent.  The two pieces I didn’t keep really boiled down to the fit not being right, otherwise I would have once again kept all five pieces!
