Lisa's Dinnertime Dish: Sloppy Guiseppes

Remember when we made fettuccine bolognese earlier this week? And remember how I said I would have a creative way to repurpose the leftovers today? Well here you go, I bring you sloppy giuseppes and they are GOOD.

Not only are sloppy giuseppes good, they’re also really easy to make, which makes them a perfect weeknight meal.  When I made fettuccine bolognese I realized I was going to have a lot of leftover sauce and I knew I wanted to come up with another use for the sauce. Since the sauce is so deliciously thick, I thought it would be a perfect sandwich filling.

Sloppy Giuseppes

The sloppy giuseppe is like a sloppy joe,  but with an Italian twist. Instead of using hamburger buns, I built the sandwiches on ciabatta rolls and since everything’s better with cheese, I added a slice of mozzarella.

Then to put it totally over the top, I brushed some garlic herb butter on top of the buns and baked the sandwiches until the cheese was melted and the buns were nice and toasty. With all of that going on, the sandwich needed an Italian name, so, the sloppy giuseppe was born.
