September 2015 Stitch Fix Review

It’s Stitch Fix time again!  I still love getting that package in the mail every month, it’s like Christmas over and over.  Stitch Fix has turned out to be a great way for me to build my wardrobe.  I love that I can take the time to try the clothes on at home and see how the pieces work with my existing wardrobe.  By being able to do that, I’m ending up with pieces that really work for me and get worn over and over.

If you’re not familiar with  Stitch Fixhere’s how it works, it’s a personal styling service and it’s a great way to add new clothes to your wardrobe. When you sign up for your first fix, you’ll fill out a detailed personal profile so that your stylist has a good idea of your preferences, including your size, style and budget.   For a $20.00 styling fee, your stylist will hand-pick five clothing and/or accessory items that meet your criteria. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll get your first fix within a few weeks.  You can schedule a Stitch Fix to arrive automatically once a month or more or less frequently, whatever’s convenient for you.

Once your package arrives, you have three days to try everything on and see how it works with your existing wardrobe.  If there’s anything you don’t like, just put it in the postage paid envelope that’s included and send it back.  The $20.00 styling fee will be applied to anything that you do purchase and if you purchase all five items, you receive a 25% discount.  If you refer other people to sign upyou’ll receive a $25.00 credit for each person that can be used on future purchases.

This month I didn’t make any specific requests but I was hoping that my stylist would send me some cozy fall pieces and that’s exactly what she did.  I absolutely LOVE this month’s fix!  So without further adieu, here’s what I got this month.

Market & Spruce – Aleah Heathered V-Neck Dolman Top ($48.00) – I love the color and fit of this top.  I also love that it’s long enough to wear with leggings and it looks great with jeans.  I see myself wearing this piece often.  Verdict:  Kept

Fate – Upson Cardigan ($64.00) – What can I say?  I’m a sucker for a cardigan.  But there’s so much to love about this one.  I like the grey color, which is always versatile and it’s a great weight.  It’s heavy enough that it will be warm when the weather gets cold, but it’s not at all bulky. I also like that it’s more fitted through the waist, which makes it very flattering and the length is perfect.  Verdict:  Kept

Kut From The Cloth – Dayna Skinny Jean ($88.00) –  I love, love, love these jeans.  Let’s start with the color, how fabulous is this red?  It’s such a versatile color and goes with grey, black, navy, beige, olive, pretty much every color.  I also have a slight obsession with skinny jeans, which are perfect for wearing with boots, which I pretty much live in during the colder months.  The fabric is so soft and has just the right amount of stretch,  which makes them super comfy.  Verdict:  Kept

RD Style – Twisted Seam Elbow Patch Sweater ($64.00) – This is a cozy, casual sweater that will be perfect when the weather gets colder.  I love the patches on the elbow, it’s really a nice touch and the grey will go with so many things in my closet (like the red jeans!).  The fit is great and I like that it’s longer in the back.  Verdict:  Kept

Papermoon – Jayson Mixed Material Knit Top ($54.00) – This top is the only item in my fix that I hesitated on.  The fabric on the back of the shirt is fabulous.  The color and pattern are gorgeous.  The problem was the front of the shirt.  I felt like it was slightly boxy and it felt very plain.  But after playing around with it, I realized it just needed accessorizing.  As far as the boxiness (is that a word?) goes, pairing it with a jean jacket takes care of that and you can still see the fun fabric in the back.  If I’d sent this one back, I wouldn’t have gotten the 25% discount and so I would have actually spent $25.00 more.  So I kept it and I’ve already worn it.  Verdict:  Kept

Once again, success.  I can hardly wait to see what I get in next month’s fix!
