A Romantic New Year’s Eve Dinner

Why go out on New Year’s Eve when you can stay home and make your own fabulous dinner? It’s a fraction of the cost of going out and there are no crowds to fight.

It seems that New Year’s Eve has become this holiday where there’s all this pressure to go out and do something fabulous.  But the problem is, it’s really not the best night to go out.  Everything is premium priced, you need to make reservations well in advance AND it’s not the best night of the year to be out on the roads.

Instead of stressing yourself out with all of that, I propose you stay in and celebrate the holiday with your sweetie.  Spend your money on some quality ingredients and cook up a romantic dinner together.  If you’re feeling especially festive, you can dress up or keep it cozy and put on your comfiest clothes.

So light some candles, get out your best dishes and get ready to enjoy this romantic dinner as you ring in 2015.

Start off your evening with these Mini Crab Cakes with Dill Sauce.  Seafood always says luxury and these crab cakes will not disappoint.  They’re so full of flavor and the dill sauce compliments them perfectly.  You can easily cut the recipe in half for two or make the full recipe and freeze half for another evening at home.

For your second course this Roasted Asparagus Salad with Champagne Vinaigrette is perfect.  The smokiness of the roasted asparagus and the sweetness of the oranges are a perfect flavor combination.  It’s easy to make and the champagne vinaigrette makes it perfect for New Year’s Eve.

Since it’s New Year’s Eve, why not splurge on filet mignon and make Filet Mignon with Stroganof Sauce for your main course.  It’s a delicious “turf” to go with the appetizer “surf”.

Keep dessert light and refreshing with this Strawberry Basil Sorbet.  It’s easy to make and the combination of strawberries and basil is absolutely delicious.  Make it extra special by topping with sliced strawberries and shaved dark chocolate.

Finally, make a toast to the new year with this Cran-Raspberry Champagne Cocktail.  The red color makes it so festive and the hint of cranberry along with the champagne is a fantastic flavor combination.  If you prefer a non-alcoholic drink, this is equally delicious with sparkling apple cider.
