July 2015 Stitch Fix Review

It’s time for another Stitch Fix review!  I’ve been getting monthly Stitch Fix packages since May and I love it more every month.  It’s been a really great way for me to build my wardrobe and has expanded my fashion horizon.  I love to shop, but sometimes it can be a little overwhelming and so I have a tendency to pick out the same kinds of clothes.  So it’s been great to have someone else pick out pieces for me to try!

If you’re not familiar with  Stitch Fixhere’s how it works, it’s a personal styling service and it’s a great way to add new clothes to your wardrobe. When you sign up for your first fix, you’ll fill out a detailed personal profile so that your stylist has a good idea of your preferences, including your size, style and budget.   For a $20.00 styling fee, your stylist will hand-pick five clothing and/or accessory items that meet your criteria. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll get your first fix within a few weeks.  You can schedule a Stitch Fix to arrive automatically once a month or more or less frequently, whatever’s convenient for you.

Once your package arrives, you have three days to try everything on and see how it works with your existing wardrobe.  If there’s anything you don’t like, just put it in the postage paid envelope that’s included and send it back.  The $20.00 styling fee will be applied to anything that you do purchase and if you purchase all five items, you receive a 25% discount.  If you refer other people to sign upyou’ll receive a $25.00 credit for each person that can be used on future purchases.

You can ask your stylist to include specific items in your fix, but this month I didn’t make any special requests.  I let my stylist choose the items she sent based on the preferences I’d already given her and things that I’d pinned to my Stitch Fix Board.  Here’s what I got this month.

Market & Spruce – Clove Twist-Back Striped Cardigan ($64.00)- I had pinned this cardigan to my Stitch Fix board back in June and was very excited that my stylist included it.  I loved the detail of the back, it’s got a twist in the middle and then the back is a little lower than the front.  I thought the black and white stripe would be very versatile, as well.  I love that way it fits, the twist in the back makes it very flattering.  The fabric is a medium weight cotton knit so it will be a great transitional piece for fall or a chilly summer evening.   Verdict:  Kept

Papermoon – Remmie Printed Maxi Skirt  (58.00) – This is another piece that I pinned and when it arrived I was not disappointed.  I pinned it because I loved the color and pattern.  The fit is perfect and the knit cotton fabric makes it super comfy whether I dress it up or down.  I feel like I’ll be able to wear this skirt into the fall if I pair it with a cardigan or jean jacket.  Verdict:  Kept

Pixley – Edmond Chevron Print Henley Shirt ($54.00) – I already have a couple of henley shirts that are woven fabric, so I was really excited to see that this was cotton knit.  The color and pattern are just my style and I love that the fabric is a little heavier.  I can wear it for the rest of the summer with shorts or capris and it will be perfect paired with jeans once the weather cools in the fall.  It’s a perfect casual top. Verdict:  Kept

Mystree – Dia Stretch Lace Knit Top ($64.00) – This top is one of my favorite pieces in this fix.  I love the lacy, feminine look.  It’s very sheer, so you do need to wear a tank underneath.  I actually like that, because you can see a little pop of color if you wear a colored tank.  I love the fit of this top and the length is perfect for me.  It looks great with jeans, but it’s long enough to also wear with leggings.  It’s a great summer top, but I also see myself wearing this paired with a cardigan when the weather starts to get chilly.  Verdict:  Kept

Gilli – Liana Maxi Dress ($68.00) – As soon as I pulled this dress out of the box, I loved it.  The top of the dress is cotton knit and has some nice detail.  The bottom of the dress is a stretchy polyester fabric and I love the pattern and colors.  When I tried it on, I thought it was really flattering and very comfortable.  I felt like it could easily be dressed up or down.  The unfortunate thing is that it was miles too long, I’m wearing wedges in the photo and I could still step on the bottom.  I could get it shortened, but knowing myself, I know it would end up sitting in my closet and I would never get around to having it shortened.  The good thing is, my daughter, Nicole, is a good 6 inches taller than me and the length was perfect on her.  Because of the 25% discount, it was actually less expensive to keep the dress than to send it back, so I gave the dress to Nicole.  Verdict:  Kept

Once again, my fix was very successful and I already can’t wait until I get my next fix!
