Balsamic Vinaigrette

Homemade balsamic vinaigrette is so much better than store bought.  It’s so much fresher and flavorful than anything in a bottle AND it’s easy to make.  It only takes a few ingredients and it’s ready in minutes.

This is a basic vinaigrette recipe that’s delicious as is, but you can easily change up the flavors.  Try adding a teaspoon of your favorite dried herbs or a tablespoon of your favorite fresh herbs.

Once you make this you’ll never want to go back to store bought!

Balsamic Vinaigrette

  • 1 tsp shallot, minced
  • 1 tsp garlic, grated or finely minced
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • salt and pepper, to taste

In a small bowl, whisk together the shallots, garlic, mustard and vinegar.  Season with a little salt and pepper.

Slowly whisk in the olive oil so that it emulsifies with the other ingredients.  Whisk in the lemon juice.  Taste and add more salt and pepper, if necessary.

Use enough balsamic dressing to lightly coat the lettuce.  Refrigerate any leftover dressing.

ENJOY!
