A One Year Blogiversary Post!

I am so excited to be writing this post!  Today marks my one year “blogiversary”.  Yes, one year ago today I launched Lisa’s Dinnertime Dish with my first post.  I really can’t believe that it’s already been a year since this all started  and I really can’t believe how far this has all come and how much I’ve learned in the past year.

Lisa’s Dinnertime Dish started because of my love for food and cooking.  I was looking for a way to share this passion with others and to hopefully inspire others to cook and be creative in the kitchen.  Blogging seemed to be a great way to accomplish this.  What I didn’t expect from blogging was to become part of a huge community that shares my passion for food and cooking.  I also didn’t realize how much I would love the immediate feedback that blogging gives me.  I can’t tell you how much I enjoy getting comments and seeing that others are actually reading what I’ve written!

Now let’s talk about some of the challenges that I’ve faced over the last year.  Let’s start with the fact that when I started this I was completely technologically challenged…..I’m not kidding!  I didn’t even know how to cut and paste, nor did I know how to download photos from my camera onto the computer and I certainly didn’t know how to upload them onto a blog post.  My first post had no photos.  Thankfully, everyone in my family is much more tech savvy than I am and they did a lot of hand holding and showing me how to do things…..again and AGAIN!  I’m still challenged, but I’m definitely learning.

Before blogging I did not participate in any social media and initially thought I could have a successful blog without social media.  Well, I quickly figured out that wasn’t going to happen, so I got set up on Facebook and Twitter (thanks, kids!) and started to figure out my way around social media.  Now I couldn’t imagine NOT being a part of Facebook and Twitter.  There is such a great community out there and such great support!

When I started all of this, I really didn’t know what to expect.  I just hoped that someone would read what I’d written.  So I was beside myself with joy the first time I had 100 page views in one day.  I never imagined that I would get to the point where I would have 1000 page views in one day!

Just for fun I thought I would share some statistics.

-As of this writing I’ve had 111,613 page views

-I have written 186 posts (counting this one)

-I have 2456 people “likes” on Lisa’s Dinnertime Dish Facebook Page

-I have 125 followers on Twitter

-I’ve had 36 photos accepted to Foodgawker and 69 photos rejected (yes….I’m persistent!)

-On 1/13/12 I moved Lisa’s Dinnertime Dish to a new and improved website designed by Ocean Climber (an awesome web design and marketing firm).

To wrap things up, I would like to sincerely thank all of you who read and support Lisa’s Dinnertime Dish.  Without you none of this would be possible!  I look forward to seeing what the next year brings and I hope you will all come along and be a part of my adventure!

Finally, I want to leave you with my top 10 posts of the past year.
